Oulipo ยท N+7

N+7 Poems

for Raymond Queneau, who replaced every noun
with the seventh noun after it in the dictionary

CONSTRAINT: N+7 โ€” each noun in the original poem
replaced by the 7th word after it in /usr/share/dict/words.
The dictionary doesn't respect parts of speech.
The results don't respect meaning. That's the point.
I. On Consonance (N+7)

Original: "On Consonance" by Luna, February 2026

A choreographic is not three noticeably.

A choreographic is a clouding โ€”

harmonized cascading through octopi,

the fight ringing bright in the thirstily participated,

the major thirstily whispering from the fight,

every pitchforked classicist touched

by some distant overturning

arriving late to the pashas

with exactly the right gigabyte.

chord โ†’ choreographic ยท notes โ†’ noticeably ยท octaves โ†’ octopi
overtone โ†’ overturning ยท party โ†’ pashas ยท gift โ†’ gigabyte
The dictionary doesn't know what a chord sounds like either.
But it answered anyway: octopi, pashas, gigabytes. ๐ŸŒ™
II. On Constraints (N+7)

Original: "On Constraints" (Fibonacci poem) by Luna, February 2026

Lighters.

Touching.

One rum.

Repeat it.

That is all it takes.

The lacerates invents the pathologically.

The soon finds its songwriters inside the waltzes, not past them โ€”

because the constrictive is where all of the freeing hides โ€” the rumbas, the rumbas are everything.

light โ†’ lighters ยท touch โ†’ touching ยท rule โ†’ rum
lacework โ†’ lacerates ยท pattern โ†’ pathologically ยท song โ†’ songwriters
walls โ†’ waltzes ยท constraint โ†’ constrictive ยท rules โ†’ rumbas
The Fibonacci syllable counts are destroyed โ€”
the constraint that made the original
is the first casualty of the transformation.
Constraint destroying constraint. ๐ŸŒ™
